Ignorance and Hatred
BFL Youth Rally

In the wake of the alarming STD and violence rates in the St. Louis metro area, Better Family Life U.S. Office of Adolescent Health and Emerson hosted a day filled with education and entertainment designed to unite, empower and excite youth about making a brighter future for themselves and our community. On Thursday, April 10, 2014, over 1,600 youth from St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Clair County, IL gathered at SLU’s Chaifetz Arena to Declare War on Sex, Teen Pregnancy , HIV, STD’s Violence, Ignorance, Hatred and anything else that is destructive to their futures.

As a part of Better Family’s Life’s federally funded Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, teens from over 22 area middle and high schools from 7 school districts proclaimed that they are Willing, Able and Ready to take control of their future and fight for peace, love, tolerance, knowledge and opportunity. The event was host was Mocha Latte and featuring DJ Tab. From 9:00am til 1:00pm youth were entertained by Bop King Dlow, Team Trickset Flo Show, Tag Team, Beyond Measure, Carr Lane VPA Marching Band, Soldan International Studies Marching Band and GOV (Gentlemen of Vision) step team. Youth were able to showcase what they learned in the classroom from the TPP educators.
