An initiative by BFL aimed to empower students in urban communities through soccer, writing, creative expression, and service-learning. With teamwork as the core value, America SCORES St. Louis motivates youth to lead healthy lifestyles, excel academically, and become active contributors to their communities.

Who We Are

America SCORES St. Louis empowers urban youth to lead healthy lives, excel academically, and develop the confidence and character necessary to make a positive impact in the world. This is achieved through an innovative, year-round model that integrates poetry, soccer, and service-learning.

Our comprehensive after-school program promotes physical health, self-expression, and community engagement. It also strengthens students' relationships with teachers and peers through collaborative service projects.

Our History

America SCORES originated as an initiative combining team-building activities on the soccer field with poetry workshops, fostering teamwork and leadership skills. These skills empower students to become agents of change in their communities through service-learning projects. The program rapidly expanded throughout the DC area and beyond, now encompassing 14 programs across the United States and Canada.

Today, America SCORES serves over 600 students in grades 1-12 through partnerships with nine K-8 Cleveland Metropolitan schools, summer collaborations, and a high school alumni program.
