Welcome to Sisters Saving Sisters

Sisters Saving Sisters aims to address the higher risk of HIV/STDs in African American and Hispanic female adolescent populations. The program is designed to reduce frequency of unprotected sexual intercourse, number of sexual partners, and the incidence of sexually transmitted infections. Sisters Saving Sisters is a skill-based risk-reduction intervention administered in small groups of female adolescents and led by trained facilitators in a community-based setting.

Our goal is to teach young girls, ages 12-18, about Teen Pregnancy Prevention, HIV and other STDs. We aim to empower young women to change their behavior in ways that will reduce their risk of becoming infected with HIV, other STDs and unintended pregnancies.

Previous Events

Better Family Life hosted a FREE Teen Empowerment & Prevention Summit for girls ages 12-18 on April 28, 2018 to promote health, prevention and self-awareness in our community. Our goal is to educate teen girls about building healthy relationships, forming stronger communication skills, and making proud and responsible decisions to reach their goals. In addition, we want to teach our girls the importance of Teen Pregnancy Prevention and ways to prevent HIV/STD infection.

The Teen Empowerment Summit will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Doors open at 9:30 AM and the event will take place from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Better Family Life's Cultural, Educational and Business Center. Registration is highly recommended and forms are available for download.
