St. Louis, MO. - Better Family Life, Inc. hosted its 12th annual Teen Empowerment Rally on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Scottish Rite Theater located in Saint Louis, MO. The rally brought together thousands of students from both sides of the river to yet another massive show of unity to ignite change in our society.
This year, the Rally was created to empower and excite youth about making proud and responsible choices under the theme "Livin' My Best Life" as they continue their efforts towards Teen Pregnancy Prevention,HIV/STD awareness, and Drug and Violence awareness in the community. In the wake of the alarming STD and violence rates in the St. Louis metro area, Better Family Life educated and motivated youth about making a brighter future for themselves. Youth proclaimed that all life matters and declared their responsibility to prove that they're protecting themselves from all societal enemies. "We want to emphasize the importance of youth and commend them for staying on track and striving to obtain favorable outcomes. Our goal is to encourage youth to develop the skills and knowledge needed to form and sustain healthy relationships" says Miranda Jones, Vice President of the Youth Department at Better Family Life. Over 2,000 students attended the rally from several schools such as Jennings Middle, E. St. Louis High, Gateway STEM High and Lincoln Middle School to name a few. Youth gathered and showcased many talents as they shared what they have learned about Teen Pregnancy Prevention, HIV and other STDs through raps, poems, videos and more. Positive entertainers this year featured National and Local/Independent Artists, Local area step teams, marching bands, Motivational Speakers, Poets, Community Leaders and more.
